I was recently delighted to be chosen as the official photographer to capture the recently restored Grade II Listed cottage in Woolton Village that was once owned by John Lennon's family. He stayed there regularly as a young boy, later writing many of his early songs as the house, and has been purchased by Kara and Kelley Kupfer who have spent two years lovingly recreating the home with builders and craftsmen and the help of both Jackie Spencer (one of Liverpool's leading Beatles tour guides) and also the Lennon family to create a fantastic boutique holiday let for Beatles fans to enjoy. The attention to detail is staggering and I was thrilled that they decided to trust me to photograph it for their website and Facebook page to advertise to fans around the world.
Their feedback from my second visit to capture some updated shots, following some more work was:
"Yessss David you did it again! Magic. I showed the contractor who focused on the kitchen the photos you previewed on FaceBook and he was so made up.
Thank you again! You'll be our primary contact for photos from here on out."
The family have really been a huge help to Kelley and Kara with their valuable insight, as they have been able to inform them of many of the characteristics of the rooms, including John's cupboard, in the snug, the heart of the house where John would draw, write and imagine, and many other historical period features that would have been missed without their input.
They have also converted the old garage behind the cottage into a music room, with top of the range sound insulation throughout, so that holidaymakers can recreate their favourite Beatles hits with the electric guitars supplied (without the fear of disturbing the neighbours)
More details of the cottage can be found on their Facebook Page and new website.
There was also a story in the Liverpool Echo from March 2016, before it was purchased, that can be read HERE.
